WHO ARE YOU? Identity
1 September 2020

When asked who you are what is the answer you give? Often, at functions, meetings, programmes, workshops and every good gathering we could think of whenever we are asked who we are, the first answer we give is our name knowing our names give us an identity. But with some people when you state your name they seek for more answers and possibly ask “so who is Ama?”
This second question reveals how deep the question “who are you” is. Who you are reveals your identity and your knowledge on it helps you on your journey. So I ask “who are you”
Your identity is tied to what you give your heart and everything to. That which you give your heart to defines you. What have you allowed to define you? Your career, your success, your wealth, your family, your connections, your situation or your creator?
Your identity is what gives you hope and pushes you to keep believing. Your identity defines and keeps you focused on the vision even when things seem wrong. Your identity reveals your foundation and gives a message to the world. Who are you? What defines you?
“If our identity is on our work, rather than Christ, success will go to our heads and failure will go to our hearts” Timothy Keller.

When you find your identity in the one who created you, you change your hope perspective. God as your identity gives you a new hope, a new view, a new joy and the desire to keep on. Your identity found in Christ makes you not only speak what he has said but believe and yearn for more.
With your creator as your identity, when others say it’s impossible you say it is possible, because he makes you believe that with Him (God) all things are possible. When others feel they have no future, you know he has one for you, and as he strengthens you daily, you can do all things. Others might feel rejected, but with God as your identity you know you are wanted because He has redeemed you. When you know Christ as your foundation, you know you are not a mistake when the world doesn’t see your use or believe in you. Christ as your Identity you know you are not only called but chosen.
So when asked who you are, let them know your identity. I am a child of God. As a child of God you know your foundation is solid, strong, and deep and firm which cannot be destroyed. With this knowledge your daily scars become sweet and remain your source of joy and strength.
But keep loving your Identity. Your love for something pushes you to know more and yearn for more. Loving your identity will give you more knowledge about Him and reveal a lot of mysteries to you, make the vision clear and life beautiful. Your identity drives action.
Once again “WHO ARE YOU”. Make Christ your identity and you wouldn’t regret it. Have a solid rock as an identity.
