The Cycle - 1

The Cycle - 1

We all have stories to tell

Scripts from our personal diaries

Images we can't erase from memory

Actions we laughed about

Actions we escaped from

Our environment and home gave us a reality

A reality we still behold

A reality that made us decide if we will continually walk that path or change the narrative.

You realize how a child can call out to their mother or father countlessly in a minute but yet have nothing to say?

The mother or father responds every time with a "yesss" or raise their eyebrow by the fifth call with stress, tiredness or anger in their eyes

Sometimes the parent may shout at the child to be silent

All these experiences form something in the child's mind

Perhaps you were spanked at every slight mistake,

You had no food on your table,

You had everything but never heard 'I love you' or 'I am proud of you'

Your grades were more important than any other thing

You received a hug every time

You had a father who will laugh and bond with you

You had the best of education

You never lacked a thing

You had parents of faith

You had the luxury but no one was emotionally available

You had the fame but no community;

friends were conditional

You defined the world by your immediate reality

Now, you experience the realities of others, only to realise you went through trauma; Considering the many and diverse realities present,

You see the damage

You see the dysfunctionalities

You are pained

The memories no longer become a moment of struggle you overcame

They become a mental torture

They take you into depression,

you try to hide from the world

Then you vow 'I will not repeat this with my children'

Perhaps you decided to be a better person than your father, mother, aunt, uncle, or any other person

Then you hear a child call a parent many times in a minute,

and you get angry and shout.

You finally become a parent and the first correction after your child falters is a spank

You run around consumed by activities, neglecting your home

You decide not to take care of your parents because they were never available

You always play the victim, never ready to accept correction

Your rage can consume a city

You never show any love towards the community you find yourself in

Yes. You vowed to be better

You vowed to change the narrative

You pledged to heal

You desired to write a new story

But look around,

You have become the exact person you vowed never to become

Transformation doesn't just happen because we had a thought

It doesn't happen because we vowed or wrote them on sheets around our bed

Transformation starts with a desire, a decision to be better, and taking actions to see a perfected result

You can't just have a desire without taking a deliberate action or step

You will find yourself stuck in a personal prison.

Don't just desire it. Take actions to break that cycle

Take action to be a better person

Be mindful

Don't get stuck in the trauma, don't get stuck in the pain

Seek help if needed

Ask questions; behold what is right and not what you want to escape from

Allow God break you to be better

Allow the pruning

Don't just desire to tell your story

Telling the story is good

However, tell it from the place of victory where you are healed and transformed

Desire transformation, however, work towards it

Behold that which you desire to be

Study it, be mentored, take actions, walk in it and see you become

A story reveals, however, the actions taken bring the change

Break the Cycle

Change the Narrative

Rewrite your story

Transform your reality and world.

Very amazing and powerful. Breaking the cycle maybe difficult but in the end it will be worth it. Life never said the journey will be easy but God promises a peace in the midst of storms. Shalom
